Merge Cube: Explore Augmented Reality in the palm of your hand.
02/12/2024
Merge Cube is an APP and educational tool for STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics). This application allows us to generate 3D elements with an electronic device such as a phone or a touch tablet and a cube that we can buy or print completely free of charge.
Undoubtedly, it is a tool that allows us to work both in primary and secondary school on abstract concepts that are often difficult for our students to understand.
Regarding the applications, we can find the following three:
Merge Explorer: This is an educational application that uses augmented reality to explore topics such as natural sciences, geography and biology through simulations and practical activities. Students can interact with the solar system, observe phenomena such as volcanoes or earthquakes, and study the anatomy of the human body in a visual and intuitive way. This tool is designed to integrate with educational curricula, facilitating the teaching of complex concepts and increasing knowledge retention through hands-on learning.
Merge Object Viewer: An application for viewing and manipulating 3D objects in augmented reality using Merge Cube. Users can rotate, scale and explore 3D models from any angle, either by selecting objects from a pre-existing library or by uploading their own custom models. It is ideal for design projects, presentations and visual learning, and is especially useful in fields such as education, engineering and architecture. This tool encourages creativity and simplifies the understanding of complex objects by offering an interactive and immersive perspective.
Merge HoloGlobe: In this application, students can interact with 3D maps, observe weather patterns such as hurricanes and pressure systems, and explore natural phenomena such as earthquakes or changes in vegetation. This tool is ideal for understanding issues related to climate change, natural disasters and ecology in a visual and interactive way. Its intuitive design makes it a valuable tool for both education and environmental awareness, making geography and Earth sciences more accessible and engaging.
It must be said that all these applications can be used with both Android and IOS/Ipad and if we want to access most of the content we will have to buy a monthly or annual subscription of 11€ and 125€ respectively (as of the date of publication of the article).
To conclude, I hope you like and find this article interesting and that you will use this resource in the classroom.
